Assemblages

I do not characterize myself as a sculptor, although I feel at times that some of my ideas share a closer kinship with a 3-D sculptural approach than with the 2-D media which I've spent more of my time exploring. These particular ideas simply need to be created to exist in a more physical space than what might be considered possible through traditional print or paint media. I surround myself with objects which attract and engage me in some way. I will often collect objects which I intend to use in my work at some point but which might not be realized until years later. Knowing that any combination of objects can be crafted into an artistic statement gives me a great deal of freedom that I didn't have when I felt bound by a purist approach of choosing and sticking to one media.
