A handwritten grocery list can be as engaging as a landscape painting, a conceptual installation, a site specific sculpture. The visual narrative, translated right then and there, by the literal one, ensures that they become indispensable to and inseparable from one another. I used to think that you had to have an unyielding purist approach to visual art. As if it were as simple as picking a medium and then wearing the hat of a painter, a printmaker, a sculptor, a digital artist. But time has graciously taught me that there is no need to choose and that my fascination with language and semantics can be intertwined with the creative process, digital imagery and mark-making. And yes, I still believe in the latter.
